Hey oracle. Two parts to this, and I'll be straight with you on the embassy one because it isn't great news.
Abuja put out its student appointment list on 18 June, and the window to submit at VFS ran 22 June to 3 July. Since 20 July they've paused new visa submissions in Abuja and Lagos, and that pause is still on "until further notice." There's no second student list announced right now, so I wouldn't bank on a fresh one dropping in the next few days. If you managed to submit before 20 July, your file is still being processed and your passport comes back through VFS. If you never got a slot, there's no open window at the moment, and that's the honest sticking point.
Now the part you actually control: don't let the resumption date pass in silence. Email UBI's international office and your course's academic services this week. Tell them plainly that your visa is held up by the embassy suspension, and ask whether you can register a little late, whether there's a grace period for students delayed by visas, and whether they can move your start to the second semester if it comes to that. Universities in Portugal deal with delayed international students every year, so most will work with you, but only if you reach out before the date, not after it. Point them to the embassy's suspension notice so they can see the delay isn't on you.
The thing that actually costs people their place is going quiet. One clear email to UBI now does more for you than refreshing the embassy page.
